The project "Am-Bah" addresses how Israeli cultural circles perceive the periphery.

The seemingly pluralistic nature of the cultural and artistic community, along with projects aimed at "connecting with the people," conceals exploitation, hypocrisy, and condescension beneath the surface. These initiatives often involve intentional borrowing, orientalism, fetishization, and blind admiration (justified as it may be) of imagery.

The project seeks to touch on these sensitive points by engaging with the image of falafel – a national, simple, and popular dish that holds an esteemed place in Israeli culture.

"Am-Bah" is a boutique falafel stand I created at the heart of my graduate exhibition. The product line displayed at the stand, with its elegant branding and visual language that feels out of place, is part of the manipulations the work employs to highlight this "adoption" of the popular by the elite cultural world.

During the exhibition's opening event, a performance will feature the sale of branded kits for assembling a boutique falafel dish. Each kit contains everything (and more than) one might need to indulge in falafel.
